The ride was well attended with 13 riders and we all set off from North Baddesley at around 09:15 in the direction of Hilliers Aboretum via Ampfield on the A3090 in near perfect cycling weather(slightly overcast skies without rain and double digit temperatures). After following the A3057 up to the Bear and Ragged Staff PH we arrived at Annies in Kimbridge at around 10:00 and recharged our batteries with bacon paninis, baguettes and coffee/tea.Our route then took us though Dunbridge,Lockerley and the Deans before scaling the mighty ascent south of West Dean called Dean Hill.I had been warned about this hill prior to the ride and as I had not ridden this route previously did not fully appreciate its gradient by following it on google street map!! Needless to say it proved too strenuous for some who resorted to the dismount option but undeterred we all finally reached Whiteparish in good spirits. From here it was all plain sailing or should I say cycling without any major hills apart from Ryedown Lane before returning to North Baddesley via Redlynch,Hamptworth,Nomansland,East Wellow and Romsey arriving at approx 14:00.Overall distance covered 34 miles.
