Despite the draw of the Ladies Final at Wimbledon there was a good turnout in Romsey. It was a dull but warm day ideal for cycling. The route used the less travelled roads through Frenchmoor and Winterslow skirting Bentley Wood with its dense canopy. John kindly pointed out that we could have saved several kilometers if we we had trusted him to navigate the tracks through the forest! The summer is really at its height with overgrown verges and hedges and crops being harvested. After all the ups, a long downhill from West Winterslow took us into Farley and a warm welcome at the Hook and Glove. The pub really knows how to look after a group and the portions were generous and sustaining. This is an immaculately kept establishment. The return was via East Grimstead West Dean Dunbridge and Mottisfont.

Thank to everyone for making this such an enjoyable day out. Good luck to Brian, who joined us for the first time, on the London ride and we also look forward to seeing Liz again.
