A bright sunny morning down at the Ferryport saw 20 riders anticipating the day ahead. A smooth crossing on a busy ferry to Cowes. We used the new floating bridge in Cowes( this can be booked ahead with a smart phone which is good for a group) then the cycle path to Newport adjacent to the Medina River. We joined the Red Squirrel Trail to Newchurch and the Pedallers Cafe. This can be a little rough in parts but keeps you well away from the traffic. The Cafe coped well with our influx and is to be recommended. Alan gave it a 10. We followed the Round the Island route to Wroxall and then joined the disused railway on the long downhill to Shanklin. We were greeted with a crowded beach and promenade.Well done to those that took to the water.

The return took us to Sandown along the Promenade most notable for its reggae singer and much loved scooters. Then inland picking up the Red Squirrel Trail again.

Thank you to Jim for a most enjoyable day on the Island. Classic seaside without the cars. Best summed up I think as Sun, Sea, Sand, and the lingering essence of Fish and Chips and 2 Stroke petrol.

With thanks to our Chairman Simon Keirby, for the excellent ride report.
