A mixed weather forecast did not seem to get it right today. A determined group met at Chandlers Ford Station and were ably led by Mary through the urban areas to Colden Common and the relative peace of Hensting Lane. The climb up to Owlesbury and the steady gradient up to Lane End were helped by a steady tailwind. Turning the corner towards the Milbury’s revealed the true weather with the blustery wind catching us out. The pub provided a welcome respite. We sat by the fire but we were not able to get its full potential as it had only just been lit. The rain had stopped after coffee but the low cloud and mist spoilt the extensive views that are possible. A ‘Wuthering Heights’ atmosphere prevailed. We met Ali and Jacqui at the Anvil and we were looked after well. The afternoon proved to be very wet and we had to battle rain and wind on the return
Thank you Mary for such a well researched route and for organizing the day so well.
