The riders at St John’s Church, Farley Chamberlayne.
Yet another hot day. We enjoyed a short ride led by Alice from Romsey mainly through leafy lanes which offered some respite from the heat.
Friday’s ride had no designated leader so I thought a short and shady route to Braishfield might be appreciated. There were 10 of us at the start and we took some of the back lanes around Braishfield and up to the church at Farley Chamberlain to look at the view and cool down inside the church while one member inpected the pulpit. We then headed towards Winchester and came down the way to meet the road to Merdon Castle. Some of us spotted what we think was an hare – otherwise it was a huge bunny with very long ears.
We were in for coffee about 10.45 and as usual made very welcome. I was a bit worried about not forewarning them of our arrival. However, there was plenty of cake and we all dispersed along the Braishfield Road afterwards. 14 miles round trip from Romsey.
