A perfect October morning with a coolness in the air for the ride over
the forest to Fordingbridge and on to Ebbesbourne Wake. The weather
brought many out and thank you to Marcus for leading the faster group to
coffee. We were very well looked after by Bridges cafe. A very attentive
and willing staff. I had warned them that there maybe 12 for coffee but
it turned out to be 19, a big thank you to them. 13 went on to the
Horseshoe in Ebbesboune Wake. On the way we were treated to fantastic
views in the clear weather at the trig point on Knowle Hill. I am sure
that we could see the chimney at Fawley. After the climb some opted for
the low road to lunch, the rest the steady climb up through Bowerchalk, a
village we do not often use but worth the extra effort. I cannot
remember ever going to the Horseshoe in Ebbesbourne Wake but it is a
real gem. Run by the same family for nearly 50 years their sense of
hospitality is to be highly commended and we were presented with great
plates of food  in all senses of the word.

After such a feast we all eased ourselves reluctantly back on the bikes
and returned through Salisbury. 70 miles for me. Thank you to everyone
one for your company.
