Saturday 5 October saw Alan lead a moderate ride Wickham and Titchfield. Despite only being organised at short notice and it being a Saturday, eight riders joined the leader at the start at the Cowherds on Southampton Common; a ninth joined us near Fair Oak.

We headed out through Swaythling, Mansbridge, Allington Lane, Horton Heath, Durley Street to Bishops Waltham. Then it was on through Swanmore, Mislingfod to the coffee stop at Wickham. Our first choice was Lilly’s but that was vey busy and they could not accommodate any of us. Fortunately, we had more luck at the Baytree Tea Rooms.

After coffee, we carried on through Knowle and Titchfield. Y+The original plan was to head towards Warsash and take the Pink Ferry but we had too many people to make that a sensible choice. So instead, we headed through Locks Heath, Park Gate and Swanwick before crossing the river Hamble at Bursledon.

As we approached the Royal Victoria County Park, the sun came out and we enjoyed views across the sparkling Southampton Water. Then it was on through Woolston and across the Itchen Bridge before hading up through the park of central Southampton to finish back at the Cowherds on the Common.
