Some fourteen members met at the start for Katrina’s ride to Alresford. We headed out through Allbrook, Otterbourne and Compton before picking up the Viaduct Way to head into Winchester passing over the old Hockley viaduct. Then it was up through Winnall and the wonderful bike path that goes under the A34 slip road, over the M3 and then dives down under the M3 slip road before picking up the lane to Easton. Then it was on through Avington Park with a wonderful view of the lake and the house itself. The local Highland cattle were enjoying the autumn sunshine but a little far away for any decent photos of them.

We carried on through Itchen Abbas and headed towards Northington before dropping down and passing through Abbotstone and on to our coffee stop at the cafe near Arlebury Park. This was the first visit for many of us. It was thought that with such a large group, it would have been difficult to get in to any of the other cafes in Alresford on such a sunny day.

After the stop, we carried on through Tichborne, Cheriton, Beauworth, Owlesbury and Morestead before heading to Twyford and on through Highbridge to finish at Allbrook.

It was a grand day out in the glorious Hampshire countryside with some interesting variations on the route expected by some people 🙂
