Cycle camping tour, 5-8 June

Chris Devrell and Paul Rayfield will lead a 4 day, 3 night cycle camping tour of Dorset between 5 – 8 June. Starting and finishing in North Baddesley, the route is 221 miles. It will follow the Dorset coastline, including Portland Bill, as far as Bridport and then do a clockwise loop back across the Forest via Yeovil , Sherborne and Shaftesbury. This will perhaps be a new experience for some.  Riders will need to bring their own sleeping bag, tent and associated kit for 4 days living and cycling. Cycles will need to be able to handle a heavier load than normal. Please contact chair@southamptonctc.org.uk for more information. For route see DorsetCamping Route Map

June 27 – July 1 We are organising a group trip to the Dieppe Raid. Details

CTC Birthday rides, 3-9 August

The CTC used to organise national birthday rides annually to celebrate the history of the CTC. When we became Cycling UK the Birthday rides were taken over by the independent CTC Holidays. This year the Birthday rides will be based at the National Fire Fighters College at Moreton in the Marsh, Cotswolds from 3 – 9 August. Bookings for the holiday will open at the end of January and the CTC Holidays website has some background. Apart from new accommodation at the college there is also a camp ground for caravan and motor home users. Paul Rayfield and Chris Devrell aim to attend and Paul has attended this event before at this site. Please contact chair@southamptonctc.org.uk if you want more background.

Sunday 16 August

Our annual 50k/32m self-guided ride. It is not a race but an opportunity for riders to enjoy a leisurely cycling event in the Hampshire countryside.
