Ride grade levels
Easy: Average of 8-10 mph (10-16kph) ideal for beginners and families; an easy pace with lots of stops. There might be the occasional hill or two, but we take our time, walk up if we have to, and regroup at the top. Half day ride up to 20 miles (32km), full day 30-40 miles (48 – 64km). All rides have a café or pub stop about 1/2 way round.
Moderate: Average of 10-12 mph (16-20kph). Ideal for confident new comers, and regular riders; a steady (but not a fast) pace; can be a fair amount of up-and-down but no overly demanding climbs. Half day ride 20-30 miles (32-48km). Day ride 40-50 miles (64-80km). All rides have a café and/or pub stop.
Longer and/or Harder: Average over 11 mph (18kph). Suitable only for confident or regular riders; a steady-to-brisk pace, maybe more hills, longer distance or faster than the moderate rides. Half day ride 30-35 miles (48-56km) with a café stop. Day ride 50-80 miles/80-130km with a café, lunch stop and sometimes an afternoon tea stop).
